ATLANTA: Carol Orndorff has been promoted to director of planning for Boyken International, a construction development and program management firm. She also has recently earned her Qualified Value Technician (QVT) certification that enables her to lead value-engineering studies.

Boyken, chairman and chief executive officer. “With her QVT, she is helping those clients increase the value of their developments by increasing the cost-effectiveness of engineering.
Orndorff joined Boyken International in 1989, focusing on business development. She was promoted to senior project manager in 1997, leading the firm’s project controls team in cost management, estimating, value engineering and scheduling. In her new position, she works with project teams during program and design phases to develop cost-management strategies.
Previously, she was president of the southeast region for Quest Seminars International, a healthcare management company, for six years. Prior to that, she was sales manager and seminar director for a management-training firm, and teacher and counselor with a North Carolina School system. She began her career as a planner/fund raiser.
Orndorff is a member of the Value Engineering Society International, the Society for College and University Planning and the Georgia Biomedical Partnership. She has served on the various education committees and was in the 1992 class of Leadership Sandy Springs. She currently lives in Decatur, Ga.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in education from the University of North Dakota in 1974 and studied for her master’s degree in special education from the University of North Carolina-Charlotte from 1982 to 1984.
